What an amazing turnout we had! Orange County definitely proved to have a HUGE cupcake following!
It was our very first event and we weren’t sure what to expect. Our original hopes were to attract 500 guests and 3000 cupcakes total.
Well… We had nearly 1000 people in attendance, 90 registered bakers, 5201 cupcakes, and raised $9100 to help aid El Pozo! 
The event consisted of a DJ & MC, kids’ corner with activities & glitter face paint, a cupcake eating contest, 17 raffle items, a photo booth with fun props, and lots and lots of CUPCAKES!
We did not expect such a great response and weren’t quite as prepared for the masses. The banquet room at the Atrium Hotel was jam packed within the first hour and we had a line that went out the front entrance of the hotel! The amateur cupcakes disappeared off the trays within 30 seconds of being brought out. People were loading up on cupcakes and taking them home by the dozen. And although signs were up asking that the cupcakes not be taken home, people were not willing to give up their delicious morsels!
We definitely learned a lot from this first event and are excited of what’s to come! Please keep following us for a BIGGER, BETTER, SWEETER Cupcake Camp OC 2011! We’ll have better strategies in place to ensure everyone gets a fair amount of cupcakes and a better experience overall.
